Specimen Type/Requirements

Collect specimen in a screw-top container with a minimum formalin to specimen ratio of 10:1. 

 

DO NOT PLACE FORMALIN ON THE FOLLOWING TESTS: Frozen sections, chromosome analysis, lymphoma protocol (Flow Cytometry), crystal analysis, any specimen shared with microbiology for cultures.

Report Available

Turn around time is measured in working days from the time the specimen is accessioned into the lab. 3-6 working days depending upon specimen size and complexity. Note: stains and intra and extra-departmental consultations require additional time for report completion. When a significant delay is expected, a preliminary report will be issued. Final report to follow once all studies are completed.
