Specimen Type/Requirements
Body fluid - (except CSF)
Body fluids <40 mL must be mixed with 1:1 with Cytolyt before refrigeration. Specimens >40 mL are refrigerated without Cytolyt.
Write "Cytolyt" and document original color, appearance, and volume on container.
CSF - Do not use Cytolyt
Refrigerate the fluid for storage and transport to the Bemidji Pathology Laboratory.
