Specimen Type/Requirements
CSF tube or Sterile specimen container - CSF - must be clear CSF in collection tube #4
Submitting 4th lumbar puncture collection tube minimizes blood contamination and is the preferred tube.
Do not centrifuge the CSF.
Rejection Criteria: Hemolysis, Xanthochromia/RBCs in CSF.
