Specimen Type/Requirements
Grey top (Sodium Fluoride/Potassium Oxalate) tube - Plasma
 
Specimen should be collected without the use of a tourniquet.
Patient should avoid clenching or any exercise of the arm or hand before or during collection.
A full tube should be collected to eliminate any dilutional effect of anticoagulant.
Plasma should be separated from cells within 60 minutes of collection.
Test is affected by hemolysis and gross lipemia.
